Expanding DB in SQL Server

Hi All,

I'm looking for some advice/input for migration of our SAP DB running on MSSQL Server 2008 R2 and was setup using clustered disk.

The current disk space is almost full and I need to expand/migrate the DB, however there are some uncertainties on my end and would like to seek input for all of you who had done this before.

Can I  expand the vdisk then go to disk management then expand the volume, while doing this do I need to bring down the SAP the production instance offline for the disk to expand? or I can do it while it's still active, so there will be no downtime?
